Written pattern

Written by the designer in US terms, round by round, with the stitch count after each round and the assembly at the end.

Bear
Skill level: easy.
DK weight yarn (CYC 3), 3.5 mm hook. US terms. Work in a continuous spiral; mark the first stitch of each round. Keep the start of each round at the centre back: the assembly notes count from there, with the front opposite it.
Estimated gauge: 16.7 sc and 20.0 rounds per 10 cm. Check with a sample before relying on the dimensions.
Rnd(s) = round(s), sc = single crochet, inc = 2 sc in the same stitch, dec = invisible decrease, st = stitch
Stitch maths checked: every round uses exactly the stitches of the round before.
Colours: tan, cream.
Yarn (an estimate with 15% spare): about 55 m tan, about 5 m cream.
Safety eyes: 2 x 8 mm (black).
Also: stuffing, a stitch marker and a yarn needle.

Techniques
Magic ring: wrap the yarn into a loop, work the first round into it, then pull the tail to close the hole.
Invisible decrease (dec): insert the hook through the front loop of each of the next 2 stitches, yarn over and pull through both loops, yarn over and pull through the 2 loops on the hook.
Changing colour: work the last stitch before the change until 2 loops remain, then finish it with the new colour.
Closing a piece: thread the tail on the yarn needle, go through the front loop of each remaining stitch and pull it tight.

Toy safety: for children under 3, embroider the eyes instead of using safety eyes, and sew every piece on securely.
Left-handed: follow the same instructions; your spiral turns the other way, which changes no count.
