Print the chart and drill key
The PDF includes the full chart, a drill key with DMC codes and drill counts per color, and the canvas size for your drill shape (2.5 mm square, 2.8 mm round).
Example: a pet photo on a 30 x 40 cm canvas
Here is what a custom diamond painting looks like in numbers: a portrait-format photo of a dog, on one of the two best-selling canvas sizes.
- Crop and size. Crop close around the dog's face, then set the chart to 120 x 160 drills. With square drills that is exactly 30 x 40 cm.
- Choose a look. At this size, Balanced works with about 26 DMC colors for clean, flat areas; Photo-realistic goes up to about 69 for soft shading in fur and eyes.
- Tidy up. Fix Confetti removes isolated single drills, and Merge Colors folds near-identical shades together, so there are fewer bags to buy.
- Print. The PDF lays the chart out over numbered pages, and the drill key lists every DMC code with its symbol and how many drills it covers. Order those counts plus the 10-30% spare that kits include.

Square or round drills?
Square drills (2.5 mm)
They sit edge to edge on a 2.5 mm grid and cover the canvas completely, for the classic mosaic look. Lining them up straight takes a little more care. A 120 x 160 chart is 30 x 40 cm.
Round drills (2.8 mm)
Easier to pick up and place, so they suit beginners and relaxed projects. They leave tiny gaps between diamonds, and the same chart runs larger: 120 x 160 round drills is 33.6 x 44.8 cm.
The chart is the same for both shapes. The realistic preview renders faceted square or domed round drills, and the PDF prints the canvas size for the shape you chose.
Canvas sizes and drill counts
Canvas size and chart size are the same choice: square drills sit four to a centimeter. These are the standard canvas sizes, with what each suits when you start from a photo.

Printing the chart and the drill key

A4 or US Letter, portrait or landscape. Large charts split over numbered pages, with every 10th line in bold and center lines marked to keep your place.
Color, symbols or both
Print in color, color with symbols, or symbols only for a black-and-white printer.
