Knitting Row Counter
Tap plus after every row. The count stays in this browser, so you can close the page and come back to it. Knitting from a chart? The chart tracker in the app counts the rows for you and shows where you are on the chart.
Track a knitting chart row by row
Make a chart from a photo, a colourwork motif or a blank grid, then open it in the tracker to follow it row by row on your computer or phone. Free to start.
Start a knitting chartHow to use the counter
- Tap + when you finish a row or round, and − if you tapped by mistake.
- Set a pattern repeat, for example every 8 rows for a cable, to see how many repeats you have done and how many rows into the next one you are.
- The count is saved in this browser on this device. Reset starts again at 0.
For charts, use the tracker
A counter gives you a number. The chart tracker in Knytstudio shows you the row. Open your knitting chart in the tracker and:
- Rows are numbered from the bottom of the chart, the way knitting charts are read, with the side of the row (RS or WS), or the round number when you knit in the round.
- The row card shows the stitch count and the written instructions for the row you are on, with arrows to the previous and next row.
- The row guide dims the rest of the chart and outlines your row. Tap a row to move the guide there.
- Mark row marks every stitch on the row and moves the guide up to the next one.
- Hold Peek to see the finished design without your marks.
- On a computer, a QR code opens the same chart in the tracker on your phone, and the PDF of your chart has the same code on its cover. Sign in on the phone with the same account.
- Progress saves to your account and syncs between your devices. Marks made offline sync when you are back online.
Counter or tracker?
Use the counter for plain knitting: a garter-stitch scarf, the rows of a sleeve, a ribbed cuff. Use the tracker when you knit from a chart, such as colourwork, cables or lace, where you need to know which stitches the row has, not only its number.
