About the numbers

DMC's standard floss range has 489 solid colors: the three- and four-digit numbers, the 35 newer shades numbered 01 to 35, and Blanc (white), Ecru and B5200 (snow white). The numbers and names on this page were checked against two independent published DMC lists.

Why the colors on screen are approximate

DMC does not publish RGB or hex values for its floss. The hex codes here are community-measured screen colors. They are good for planning a palette, but a real skein looks different on your monitor and under different light, so use a shade card with real thread or actual skeins for final choices.

Using DMC colors in a pattern

The Knytstudio pattern maker uses this same DMC palette. When you turn a photo into a pattern, every color is matched to a real DMC thread, and the PDF key lists the DMC number and name for each symbol.
