Progress Tracking

Mark stitches as you complete them, follow one color at a time, and watch the completion percentage climb while you stitch.

Designing the pattern is half the journey; stitching it is the other half — usually the longer one. Progress tracking turns Knytstudio into your stitching companion: the pattern on your phone or tablet, your place always kept, no highlighter pens on a paper chart.

Starting

Open your pattern and choose Progress Tracker in the Pattern menu. The editor switches to progress mode, with a toolbar of three modes:

Move — pan and zoom the chart, nothing else. The default, so a stray finger never marks anything.

Search — tap any color to focus on it. The chart highlights where that color’s stitches are, which is exactly how most people stitch: one thread color at a time.

Mark — tap stitches (or drag across a run of them) to mark them done. Marked stitches dim so your eye reads remaining work at a glance.

A floating bar shows your completion percentage and how long this stitching session has been running. There is something quietly addictive about watching 34% become 35%.

Stitching one color at a time

The natural rhythm: search for the color you have threaded, mark its stitches as you complete them, then move to the next color. The per-color counts tell you how much of each thread remains — handy for judging whether tonight is a “finish the red” night.

Why it beats paper

Paper charts get highlighted, lost, and re-printed. Progress here syncs to your account, zooms without losing your place, and never confuses which copy is current. Combined with a PDF export for the armchair-only crowd, your pattern works however you like to stitch.

Frequently asked questions

Is my progress saved between sessions?

Yes. Marked stitches are saved to your account, so you can stitch a few rows on the couch from your phone and continue on the tablet days later, exactly where you left off.

Can I track progress on someone else's pattern?

Track your own copy: remix a community pattern into your library first, then start the progress tracker on it.

Does marking stitches change the pattern?

No, tracking is a layer on top. Your pattern stays untouched, and you can leave progress mode at any time.
